Lion Shield is Going Carbon Negative!

admin Kingdoms and Castles

Hope you’ve been enjoying the recent update! Here’s some quick company news:

Recently, we found out about Stripe’s efforts to not only offset their company’s carbon footprint, but to go carbon negative by funding technology to remove carbon from the atmosphere. You can read more about their efforts and why this is necessary here.

Inspired by this initiative, Michael and I (Pete) are joining in and committing a portion of Lion Shield’s yearly gross revenues towards carbon offsetting, capture, and sequestration.

Each year more trees around us dry out and die or succumb to parasites as the weather gets hotter and wackier. Wildfires around where Michael lives grow more intense each year. The smoke from these fires sometimes makes going outside too hazardous even for healthy people. This isn’t the world we grew up in.

This got real for me after I had my two daughters. As they wobble around in the sandbox, carefully selecting which grains of sand to eat, we wonder what they might become when they grow up – scientist? artist? astronaut? I always joke that they’ll be the ruthless leaders of a blood cult in the upcoming worldwide desert apocalypse.

I really want that to stay a joke.

Hopefully my daughters can enjoy a world and ecosystem functioning well enough that people still have time to play video games, rather than spending every spare moment hunting cockroaches for sustenance in the sun-bleached ruins of civilization.

If you run a business and are interested in participating you can email environment@stripe.com

We hope others will join as well!
