AI Kingdoms – Alpha 45

This month we focused on making the AI more responsive to what you’re up to (building up troops, not fast enough with trade, wrecking their kingdom, etc) and optimizations. Here’s the notes:

New Features:

  • Added three new AI conversation events
  • Added AI skill levels (low, medium, high, and very high)
  • AI now considers troops on their land as an aggressive act and will talk to you about it
  • AI responds if you deny surrender multiple times
  • AI will talk to you about building docks and merchant ships if you haven’t already
  • Added ability to spawn troops from other kingdoms in creative mode

Improvements:

  • Added a ‘storage full’ message to stockpiles
  • Rework look of main menu
  • More work on advisors screen (still WIP)
  • Reworked delivering gifts to be more user friendly/obvious
  • Added unfilled jobs count to job priority UI
  • Maintain previous rotation when placing a second building
  • Many optimizations, especially for running the game for multiple hours on large cities
  • Raiders increase invasion size faster on Survival mode

Fixes:

  • Fixed drag demolish not working properly on towers
  • Fixed AI not rebuilding foresters
  • Fixed AI not surrendering even though a huge part of their kingdom was destroyed
  • Fixed AI being willing to chat happily even when at war with you
  • Fixed case where ships could get stuck
  • Fixed case where you troops could get stuck on an AI castle wall
  • Fixed case of the invisible diplomats
  • Attempt fix for save corruption when using ‘Save & Quit’ option

Giving it a Try:

We’ll be doing hotpatches and working on the next alpha build straight away. If you’d like to try this alpha, you can switch to it on steam. Here’s how:

  • Right click on the game in the steam library
  • Click properties, then choose betas
  • Enter ‘alphatester123’ without quotes into the box, press enter
  • Choose the newly available alpha-unstable branch
