Our Plans for the Future

admin Kingdoms and Castles

Over the past five years we’ve supported Kingdoms and Castles and grown the game a lot. We’ve incorporated tons of your feedback and suggestions. We’ve done 13 major updates and delivered on all our crowdfunding promises. Since launch in 2017, we’ve added 30+ new buildings, new resources, new enemies and unit types, many new major gameplay systems and mechanics, AI Kingdoms, and more.

There are a few features we wanted to tackle, for example fully 3D terrain, but we realized we couldn’t do it within the limitations of Kingdoms and Castle’s current systems and codebase.

Also, as a tiny studio, we’ve realized that relying on a single game on only a single platform (PC) for our studio’s sole source of revenue is risky. It has worked out so far and we are so grateful for everyone who has bought and enjoyed the game. We want to keep making great games for a long time, so we need to do two things to help secure our future:

1. Start development on a new city builder game! – Right now we’re thinking it will take place in the ancient roman era and will feature fully 3D terrain, a dynamic water system, and more. It’s still very early but here’s a small peak at what we’ve been prototyping so far:

2. Kingdoms and Castles on New Platforms – We don’t have anything specific to announce here yet, but for Kingdoms and Castles in 2023, we’ll be primarliy focusing on bringing the game to new platforms.

We will, of course, continue bug fixing Kingdoms and Castles, and we’ve got one more gameplay update full of new buildings on the way. The beta version of that update, which we’re calling Infrastructure & Industry should be availabe in the next few days!

Until next time,
